STREAMLINING THE PROCESS
Though each of Eden Academy’s early learning centres is unique, they’re all underpinned by the same ethos. We’ve developed a thorough understanding of their values – from their commitment to creating engaging outdoor areas, to the way they prioritise calm, relaxing spaces for staff to recharge.
We know how they prefer the different spaces in a centre to be arranged in relation to each other, and how their consistent features like lockers and door handles are detailed. This knowledge fast-tracks the bedrock of the design, and offers more time to focus on what sets each centre apart.
One of the key challenges in early learning design is adapting to ever-changing regulations. First and foremost, early learning centres must keep children safe, and this means legislation is constantly updated to make them as safe as possible. A crucial part of our role is staying abreast of these updates and adjusting our designs accordingly.
With our team working across multiple Eden Academy projects at any one time, and now developing their master design guidelines, these changes can be disseminated easily and quickly to make sure designs stay compliant.
STAYING UP TO DATE
Working on projects from Townsville to Tasmania, we leverage our architectural expertise and knack for problem solving to create centres that are uniquely responsive to their context. With each new centre, we’re pushing to enhance the design wherever possible.
How can we harness passive design principles to better equip each centre for its environment – whether it’s a colder climate, or an area vulnerable to cyclones? How can we incorporate elements of the local architecture to make the centre an intuitive and familiar addition to a neighbourhood? What subtle and sustainable changes can we make that will reduce the operational cost, while delivering a building that will stand the test of time?
Building on a foundation of trust and collaboration, each project is an opportunity to innovate and improve.
For us, working closely with a client like Eden Academy across dozens of projects makes our job all the more rewarding. We cherish the chance to become a trusted partner in their journey, listening to their needs and values and transforming them into buildings that will enhance the lives of those who use them.
THE POWER OF POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS: EDEN ACADEMY
Bringing buildings to life is inherently a collaborative process: it can only be done when people work together. After 20 years of practice, we understand that our relationships will always be at the core of what we do. This applies to our team, our collaborators, and importantly, our clients.
We’re fortunate to have cultivated a collection of productive, enduring client relationships, one of which is with Eden Academy.
Since our first project together in 2018, we’ve worked alongside Eden Academy on almost 70 different early learning centres. These collaborations exist on a foundation of aligned values and mutual trust, and with each project we undertake, we continue to see the benefits of a long-term relationship.
