ARCARE NOOSA
Arcare Noosa is an aged care facility providing 91 beds on the Sunshine Coast. The site’s highly visible position offered several challenges including a maximum 8 metre height restriction, a 6 metre cross fall over the site, limited points of access from the existing road network and strict council design guidelines. We worked with the client and council to deliver a building that complements its surrounding streetscape and sits well within the broader context.
To address concerns regarding the potential bulk and scale of this building typology, we designed the two-storey facility to extend across the site and around two courtyard spaces, creating a ‘village’ feel for the residents. Varied yet complementary cladding types and screening solutions are also used to create the appearance of a series of smaller buildings from the streetscape. Internal areas are light, flowing and spacious, and resident rooms are designed for comfort.
