Commercial property developer Thorn Group engaged Elevation to design a contemporary warehouse with head office utilising an existing building. The site, located alongside the Bulimba Creek Bikeway, had a warehouse with an office and mezzanine within the building. The warehouse was gutted, leaving only the shell, and the front façade and roof were also removed. We designed a new contemporary façade and added a two-storey office space at the front of the building. The new roof was 1.5 metres higher than the previous roof, increasing storage capacity by 27 per cent. Where the roof was raised, it proved more cost effective to infill the gap between the roof and back wall with custom glazing instead of blockwork. This also brings more natural light into the space. Nearly 91% of the demolition waste was recycled upon completion of the project, totalling 41 tonnes.
