HARMONY EARLY LEARNING YARRABILBA

Harmony Early Learning Yarrabilba is a two-stage early learning centre located within the masterplanned community of Yarrabilba, developed by Lendlease. Designed in close collaboration with the client team, the centre establishes a strong sense of ‘home’ for children while embracing the indoor–outdoor connection that defines Queensland living. Delivered in two stages, the project responds to the needs of a rapidly growing community. Stage 1 was completed in early 2018 and introduced 116 places for children aged between 6 weeks and 5 years. Stage 2 followed in late 2018, adding a further 84 places and strengthening the centre’s role as an important piece of social infrastructure within the precinct. The design balances familiarity and functionality, with age-based learning environments that support both independent exploration and guided play. Generous outdoor areas connect directly to internal spaces, encouraging movement, connection to nature, and year-round use in a subtropical climate. By progressing both stages concurrently from feasibility and concept design through to construction documentation, Elevation ensured a cohesive and efficient outcome. This approach allowed the centre to evolve in step with the surrounding community while maintaining a consistent architectural vision.
