HAPPY HEARTS CHILDCARE, BURPENGARY EAST

The design for Happy Hearts Childcare Burpengary East responds to the need for a light, open and engaging early learning environment within a growing residential community.
Designed as a new single-storey childcare centre for 90 children, the project prioritises natural light, clear supervision and strong connections between the internal learning spaces and outdoor play areas.
Activity rooms are positioned to maximise northern light and maintain direct access to landscaped outdoor environments, encouraging movement, play and informal interaction throughout the day. Generous glazing allows daylight to filter deep into the learning spaces, enriching the quality of the internal environment for both children and educators.
The building form adopts a simple architectural language softened through timber accents, natural textures and integrated landscaping. Internally, muted colour palettes, playful detailing and built-in joinery create varied learning environments that respond to different activities and age groups across the centre. The foyer opens into a double-height void, creating a welcoming sense of arrival and visual connection into the heart of the centre.
Delivered as part of a larger staged development, Elevation Architecture worked closely with KDL Property Group, Happy Hearts, Ryse Construction and the consultant team from design through to construction. The result is a highly functional, sun-filled environment that balances the operational needs of a modern childcare centre with warm, welcoming spaces for the local community.
