EDEN ACADEMY MACKAY

Eden Academy Mackay is a purpose-designed early learning centre shaped by the Eden Academy Design Brief, with a strong focus on connection to climate, landscape and community. Designed to respond to Mackay's warm, tropical conditions, the centre prioritises passive design principles: generous shading, cross-ventilation, and seamless indoor-outdoor flow. The layout supports age-based learning zones, creating a sense of familiarity and comfort while allowing for both independent exploration and guided group experiences. Light-filled activity rooms open directly onto outdoor play areas, encouraging movement between spaces and a connection to nature throughout the day. Material selections and architectural detailing balance durability with warmth, giving the centre a welcoming, residential feel that reflects the Eden Academy brand while responding to its regional context. Outdoor environments were developed in close collaboration with the landscape design, incorporating natural elements and interactive zones to support play-based learning. Elevation worked closely with the client and builder across all stages of the project to deliver a practical and considered outcome, tailored to both operational needs and long-term performance in a coastal Queensland environment.
