2025 Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Awards

We are thrilled to announce our entries into the 2025 Australian Institute of Architects National Architecture Awards, showcasing two of our most recently completed projects: The Proprietary Street Warehouse Precinct in Tingalpa and Morven House at St. Patrick’s College, Shorncliffe. These projects reflect our commitment to bridging the past and future through innovative and thoughtful design.

Preserving History with Modern Solutions

Morven House at St. Patrick’s College is a project close to our hearts, where we have balanced historical preservation with modern functionality.

Originally designed by colonial architects FDG Stanley and GHM Addison, the renovation led by our Project Architect Patricia Abel has transformed Morven House into a vibrant administrative hub.

"We restored key historical features such as lime plaster walls and period fireplaces while integrating modern elements like glass partitions to enhance spatial flow and privacy." - Patricia Abel

Uncovering Hidden Treasures

A particularly exciting discovery was an intact 1860s beehive well, which we have turned into an educational feature connecting students to the building's origins.

"By addressing challenges like rising damp with innovative solutions, Morven House now serves as a central hub for the college community, offering a welcoming environment for parents, students, and staff." - Patricia Abel

COMMERCIAL REHABILITATION

The Proprietary Street Precinct, encompassing 79 and 83 Proprietary Street in Tingalpa, represents a harmonious blend of innovative design, sustainability, and functional architecture. This project, a collaboration between Elevation Architecture, Thorn Group, and Built Wright, transforms traditional industrial spaces into modern, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing environments.

BLENDING UNIQUE ASPECTS

At 79 Proprietary Street, we drew inspiration from New York's architectural charm, blending modern aesthetics with industrial functionality.

Unique elements like folded steel stairs and a Boeing 747 airplane cowl highlight our dedication to exceptional craftsmanship and sustainable design.

Sustainability meets Design

Meanwhile, at 83 Proprietary Street, we focused on reusing over 80% of the original structure and incorporating sustainable upgrades such as energy-efficient lighting and high-efficiency glass.

This project revitalises the local streetscape and offers a vibrant, efficient, and community-enhancing environment.

As we eagerly await the results of the National Architecture Awards, we want to extend our best wishes to our incredible team for their hard work and dedication. The recent jury visits were a testament to the exceptional quality and innovation of our projects, and we are proud of the impression they left.

With the Greater Brisbane event happening this week, we are excited to share this journey with all of you. We will keep you posted on the results and look forward to celebrating our achievements together. Good luck to everyone involved!
