ST PATRICK'S COLLEGE O'CONNOR BUILDING

Stage 5 of Elevation’s masterplan for St Patrick’s College included the revitalisation of the O’Connor Building’s learning spaces, Following the construction of the O’Connor Deck. St Patrick’s College wanted a student hub that could be used by their senior students for learning as well as during their breaks. We opened up the internal corridors and transformed previously underutilised space into a flexible environment for students to gather. Opening the internal spaces created a strong interface between the covered deck and the building’s interior. New glazed sliding doors between general learning areas allow for greater flexibility of space, student collaboration and natural light. Tiered interior seating facilitates collaborative and flexible pedagogy. Timber seating with integrated planters brings nature and a sense of warmth to the O’Connor Deck, and encourages students to use it for outdoor learning and during their breaks.
