CONTRIBUTING TO A BETTER, MORE SUSTAINABLE FUTURE

We’ve been quietly building better habits behind the scenes. Recycling more, reducing waste, and making conscious choices about how we use energy and resources in the studio.

This year, we decided to bring a bit more structure to our efforts by joining the ecoBiz program run by Business Chamber Queensland.

It’s a free initiative that helps Queensland businesses reduce waste, water, and energy use. And it’s already helping us improve how we work, both in the office and across our projects.

WHY WE JOINED

Like many businesses, we care about sustainability. But turning that into action, especially when you’re busy, can feel like a moving target.

ecoBiz gives us a clear place to start. It helps us:

Measure where we’re at
Set realistic goals
Track what’s working
And keep moving in the right direction

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being consistent and having support to keep improving over time.

We’ve always looked for ways to reduce our footprint. Some of the practical things we’ve already embedded include:

Waste & Recycling:

In-studio composting and everyday recycling
Containers for Change (10c bottles and cans)
E-waste sent to Substation33
Batteries and pens recycled via Officeworks
Bottle caps reused through Resitech or RecycleSmart
Unused samples donated to Reverse Garbage
Furniture rehomed via the Endeavour Foundation’s Treasure Trove

WHAT WE’RE ALREADY DOING

Energy Use:

LED lighting throughout the office
Solar panels installed in early 2025

Planning & Accountability:

Participating in the ecoBiz coaching and reporting process
Creating a Sustainability Action Plan
Talking more openly as a team about how we can do better
